This is a true insight into the treasure chests of our Ancestors From Roman to Art Deco. A valuable resource for historical re-enactors but also for anyone who appreciates British craftsmanship of the highest quality.
All items on this site are handmade by Nicky Wade in her workshop in the beautiful county of Suffolk.
Describe the space where you design.
In my living room or garden and sometimes inspiration comes to me when taking a walk around stately homes
What is your favourite film?
Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice
Where does your inspiration come from? describe the process?
Mainly medieval/Tudor but I also love Art Nouveau and Art Deco
Who would be your dream person to design for?
Kiera Knightly
What led you into jewellery design?
From being a collector of small antique silver and a historical re-enactor from the Tudor era
How do you want the wearer to feel when wearing your jewellery?
I would like the wearer to feel fabulous and think that their chosen piece will become a valued family heirloom I
What advice would you give to other people who are keen to start up their own business? Be prepared to work 80 hours a week for yourself instead of 40 hours for someone else
If you look back in ten years time, what do you hope to have achieved?
To be enjoying the last ten years of a sucessful and still, steadily growing business
What do you consider to be the ongoing trend in jewellery design for 2012?
Heritage, nostalgia, vintage themes, silver, pearls mixed with vibrant coloured gemstones
How do you promote your brand?
Gemmeus.com, blog, superb craft and design events
What materials are you designing with?
Silver, gold precious and semi precious gemstones and pearls
